March 20, 2026 – Import from Planner, OKR Improvements, VisPlan Portal & Plan Improvements
Import Plans from Microsoft Planner (New)
- Create a VisPlan plan from an existing Planner plan: A new import wizard lets you select any Planner plan you have access to and create a new VisPlan plan from it. Buckets are mapped to Ambitions and Tasks become Actions, preserving names, dates, and assignees so you can start working in VisPlan immediately without manual data entry.
- Reconnect and match existing items: If you already have a VisPlan plan with items that should be linked to a Planner plan, use the reconnect mode. The wizard presents Planner buckets and tasks alongside your existing VisPlan items and automatically suggests matches by name. Confirm or adjust the mapping before completing the import.
- Auto-add new Planner items: An option in the Planner wizard lets VisPlan automatically add new tasks created in Planner to the linked plan, keeping both systems in sync without manual intervention.
- Delete a linked Planner plan: You can now delete a linked Microsoft Planner plan directly from within VisPlan’s Planner settings. A confirmation dialog is shown with the option pre-checked, so you can remove plans that are no longer needed without switching to Planner.
- Enable Planner sync without auto-creating a plan: Similar to the Jira integration, Planner sync can now be enabled as a global toggle without VisPlan automatically creating a new Planner plan. This lets you choose the right time to connect to Planner and link plans manually, giving more control over when and how sync is activated.
- Notification when an Action is in an unsynced bucket: If an Action (Task) is moved to an Ambition (Bucket) that is not configured for Planner sync, VisPlan now shows a clear message explaining that the item will not be synced until the bucket is included in the Planner configuration.
OKR & Key Result Improvements
- Redesigned OKR cards: Strategic Objective, Key Result, and Action cards in the OKR view have a refreshed layout with clearer hierarchy, better spacing, and more readable content at all zoom levels.
- Tags visible in OKR view: Tags assigned to Actions and Key Results are now displayed directly on their OKR cards and can be used to filter and focus the view.
- Expanded card menus: Each card in the OKR view now has a context menu with direct access to edit the item, view or update Key Result values, and clone Key Results — without having to return to the Plan view.
- Collapse/expand cards: Collapse individual cards or the entire OKR tree to reduce visual noise when reviewing large plans with many objectives and key results.
- Clone Key Result: Duplicate an existing Key Result directly from its sidebar menu. The clone copies the name, description, entered values, and configuration — making it easy to create similar KRs with only minor adjustments. Note that any connected Excel Workbooks are not included in the clone and must be created and connected separately on the new Key Result.
- Attachment button on Key Results: A quick-access attachment button has been added to the Key Result sidebar, making it easier to attach supporting documents and files directly from the KR without navigating additional menus.
- Read-only protection for external Objectives and Key Results: Strategic Objectives and Key Results that belong to a parent or linked plan are now shown as read-only in the current plan. Clone, create new, and move operations are blocked for these external items, preventing accidental changes to OKRs that are managed in another plan.
- Improved backlink routing: The connector lines linking child items back to their parent cards in the OKR view now route more intelligently, reducing overlaps in dense plans.
VisPlan Portal Improvements
- Hide plans from VisPlan Portal: Plans that are no longer active or relevant can be hidden from the hierarchy view in VisPlan Portal. Hidden plans are not deleted and can be restored at any time from VisPlan Portal settings.
- Collapse and expand plan groups: The hierarchy tree in VisPlan Portal now supports collapsing and expanding groups of plans, making it easier to navigate large plan portfolios.
Plan & Editing Improvements
- Move Ambition between Capability lines: Ambitions can now be moved from one Capability line to another directly from the sidebar. Copilot also supports this operation, enabling you to reorganize your plan structure through a simple instruction.
- Copy and paste style: Copy the visual style (colors, fonts, borders) from one object and paste it onto one or more other objects in the plan. Use the new style copy button in the format panel to quickly achieve a consistent look across your plan.
- Child plans inherit parent theme: When creating a sub-plan from a Capability line, the new plan now automatically uses the same color theme as the parent plan for visual consistency across a plan hierarchy.
- Multi-edit Actions in the List view: The multi-edit dialog in the Action list has been improved with more fields available for batch editing, including assignees, focus, and dates. Select multiple rows and update all of them at once.
- Edit progress values directly in the List view: Level of Progress (LOP) and Definite Progress (DP) fields can now be edited inline in the Action list view, removing the need to open the full sidebar for routine progress updates.
Jira Improvements
- Jira user mapping: Configure a mapping between Jira users and VisPlan users in the Jira integration settings. When Jira items are synced, assignees are automatically resolved to the correct VisPlan user, improving accuracy across both platforms.
Platform Stability & UX
- Dimmed icons for disabled integrations: Integration icons (DevOps, Planner, Jira) are now shown in a dimmed state when the integration is not configured or disabled, giving clear visual feedback about connection status.
- Duplicate plan warning: A warning is now shown if you attempt to create a plan that appears to duplicate an existing one, helping avoid accidental duplicates in the plan overview.
- Translation and localization updates: Latest terminology and UI string updates across English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Swedish.
