How to Disconnect and Delete a Microsoft Planner Plan Connected to VisPlan

Prerequisites:

  • You must be the owner of the Team or Channel to be able to delete a Planner plan in Planner. That is a requirement from Microsoft.

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to disconnect and delete a Microsoft Planner plan that is connected to VisPlan. Please note that you must be the owner of the Team or Channel to perform these actions.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Enable Progress Icons

  • In the VisPlan plan, navigate to Plan Settings.
  • Enable the Show Progress Icons option. This will allow you to see the connection between the Planner plan and VisPlan objects.

Step 2: Break the Progress Link

  • Click on the Capability Line.
  • In the sidebar, click the three dots ().
  • Select Progress Link > Break Progress Link.
  • A confirmation window will appear. Confirm that you want to break the link for the Capability and select the option to Break child items links as well.
  • Click Break the link. All links to the Planner plan are now removed.

Step 3: Delete the Planner Plan

  • Open planner.cloud.microsoft and select the plan you just disconnected.
  • Click the down arrow next to the Planner plan name and select Plan details.
  • In the sidebar, at the lower right, click Delete this plan.
  • Confirm that you understand the plan cannot be restored afterwards. If you don’t see the Delete this plan option, it is most likely because you are not the owner of the Team or Channel in Teams.
