About 2Heal

2Heal Medical is a privately held company providing a Digi-physical clinic that works with functional medicine methods.

We use modern science, the very latest research and don’t give up until we find the root cause of the disease.

Why VisPlan

We needed to develop a business plan and doing so in the formal classical format as a 40-page Word, or PowerPoint document was imposing some limitations in today’s modern digital working environment. Sharing a document by e-mailing it to everyone in the leadership team isn’t that effective. The gain of sharing a visual one-pager plan that covers well over the 40 pages made it clear that VisPlan had its advantages in our hybrid workplace as well as in physical meetings.

Visual impact

Without doubt the Visual impact makes it easy to bring people onboard and become productive in plan development and execution.

We discovered many more features with VisPlan that wasn’t obvious and easy to communicate within regular business document methodologies, like how to structure our organization in relation to our goals

How to “slice” the organization

The notion of how to “slice” the organization either by functions or capabilities forced us to really think through what we are doing and how. The embedded VisPlan method helped us to improve the plan through several iterations, it was not a simple thing to do so but the VisPlan guiding method was of key importance for moving forward.

Focus on the most important Actions

Among many advantages with VisPlan one nice feature was that it helped us to organize all ongoing Actions. Very quickly we had too many Actions and by selecting and sorting all Actions based on the current “Focus” it helped us to prioritize those Actions with the most impact on the current goals and business focus.

Information Technology

This tool has made my job easier and even more enjoyable to work with strategy!

We added transparency to our diversified business growth plan

Our business expanded by acquiring different software systems and solutions, mainly based on the same technology. As our business portfolio increased in diversification, so did the complexity of running our business.
Although we were thrilled our business was growing, we quickly realized our strategic roadmap was too complex to follow and it became increasingly difficult to build a strategy that unified all functions. We also realized we anticipated more from our leaders and management regarding tracking and goal attainment.

Finding the Right Tool

Keeping all our strategic objectives documented in our employees’ minds was no longer viable and the current tools we had did not capture all the complexities and structure that we required. We knew we were looking for a tool out of the ordinary. Furthermore, we required a lightweight implementation and with an immediate start. We conducted our market research to find the right tool in the strategy and business planning domain and found VisPlan.

Some of the first features of VisPlan that stood out to us was the UX and built-in supportive videos. This made such a difference working with the tool and it increased the understanding among all our leaders of how to create a business plan.

The tool is very intuitive and allows guidance when required so that all leaders of each unit can work individually and report on their progress.

Prioritization and Goal Setting

VisPlan builds its uniqueness on the structure and context of a business plan in one page. Having this visual structure of our complete business plan makes it easy to identify and prioritize initiatives. In addition, it shows the status of everything in real time!
The One Page plan also covers every critical business unit in our organization by breaking down the master plan into sub-plans; fine-combing and aligning every activity and action towards our objectives.

This makes the process of setting goals much more transparent and inclusive for the organization. Furthermore, this transparency is positive for the accountability of leaders and indicates real progress for defined goals.

Overall Acceptance

Implementing a new administrative tool is always a challenge but the management team acceptance is constantly growing. The visual component of the tool really helps us in communicating the operational importance of each functional unit. Our diversified business has become unified, and leaders of each unit can assess how their work is critical to the success of the company.

This is highly encouraging! On top of that, the executive management appreciates being able to see the overview of the business in one shot; reducing their time for understanding risks and allowing them to take actions proactively. VisPlan has made our strategy come to life by organizing activities and functions that attain the desired state the executives have outlined.

Single Technologies – Strategy on a visual one-pager put our business plan in motion

Single Technologies

"To enter our strategy into the visual plan helped us formulate a clear desired position, identify essential capabilities, and define common strategic goals. As we now implement the strategy it is very powerful to track the degree of completion of different activities and immediately see if any is encountering issues."

Single was founded in 2014 as a unique combination of PhD research from the Royal Institute of Technology and R&D in the fiber optical grating industry. A strong multidisciplinary team is pushing the limits of what the industry assumes is possible when it comes to sequencing and Big Data generation.

The Challenge

It was a challenge to take newly explored research and technology to the market with a combined effort to bring all the science disciplines together into a concerted effort.

We needed to come up with a commonly understandable and agreed upon overall purpose and strategic objectives among our scientists to begin with. Secondly, we needed to structure the organization to deliver against the overall purpose and objectives.

The common goal – The Nobel Purpose

In general, for scientific environments, most special skills have their own unique understanding and purpose. At first, we were all skeptical about VisPlan methodology, mostly because it started from the very basics in language building.

But we found the methodology was very efficient by bringing fundamental language rules to the strategy process and how to formulate the plan content. We came up with a very strong definition of our business purpose: “We instigate 3-D Seq to decompile the coding of life” and clearly defined strategic objectives to get there.

Capability – Driven Strategy

The next step was to structure the organization.

Originally, we were inclined to do it by normal standards, that is by functions. But as VisPlan methodology recommended to structure the plan by capabilities, we started to think in terms of “Which are our capabilities” and “What capabilities do we need to meet our common goals”.

In the end we did not just structure a capability-driven business plan, but also choose to organize the company according to the capabilities we identified as essential to reach our strategic objectives.
