Strategy Execution and Operational Planning for Defence

VisPlan enables defense organizations to translate strategic objectives and initiatives into structured execution plans across operational domains.

A structured approach to defence strategy execution

Defence strategies often span multi-domain operations, leveraging diverse capabilities across operational units. While strategic plans are well-defined, translating them into coordinated execution now requires a faster tempo than ever before.

Cloud-Enabled Operations

Our solution is approved for Microsoft AppSource and built entirely on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Azure’s hardened security posture and compliance capabilities. Application services run in Azure, while operational data remains within each customer’s own Microsoft 365 environment. This ensures mission‑critical information stays under your control and supports secure, reliable operations in demanding defense contexts.

Multi Domain Operations

The figure illustrates how VisPlan structures a representative Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) planning approach into seven capability lines. The construct is anchored by the defined Objectives and the desired End State, also referred to as the Position Statement, depicted on the right side of the plan.

Each capability line identifies the critical Decisive Conditions required to achieve the stated objectives. These decisive conditions represent the intended operational effects or ambitions associated with each capability and collectively contribute to the realization of the end state.

The central circle divides the plan into a series of phases, representing the operational stages of execution. These phases provide a temporal and logical structure for the sequencing and synchronization of activities across capabilities and domains.

Multi-Domain Operations are defined, directed, and coordinated at the strategic political and/or military level, from which planning guidance is derived and execution is conducted across relevant domains in order to achieve the desired strategic End State.

Operational Plans

The VisPlan format is suitable for planning at both the strategic and tactical levels of command. This example illustrates how a tactical Maritime Security Operation (MSO) can be planned and conducted using VisPlan.

During execution, Command and Control (C2) activities support the continuous collection and processing of operational data for situational awareness and reporting. The planning staff can update or modify operational graphics and plan data on demand in response to changes in the operational environment or the issuance of new orders.

Updates within VisPlan can be implemented immediately, as the essential planning data, graphics, and operational data are digitally interconnected, enabling rapid adjustment of the plan and supporting timely command decision-making.
